Shishito with Spicy Salt

Spice Profile: ancho chiles, black lime, cayenne, hibiscus, salt, lime zest, lime oil

Shishito peppers are a Japanese pepper that trace their lineage to the Padron pepper from Spain. While most of the peppers are sweet, every once in a while there is a spicy pepper that adds to the fun! This is a very simple way to prepare the peppers and Paula from Stock+Spice gave us a spicy salt to add. This a super treat that I love to share with friends!

Heat a sauce pan to medium heat with some olive oil. Once hot add the peppers whole. Sauté the peppers and flip them when they get blistered. Once they are blistered on all sides (within reason) turn them out into a bowl. Add the spice mix to your taste, I used a bit more than half of the 2tsp bag. Serve and enjoy! The remaining spicy salt would be great on a host of things, so do not let it go to waste!
